Hey Chad....I betcha that those metal rings were exactly what you suspect them to be. Can't feature them being anything else. You pull the pin, pitch the ring and throw the grenade. So where else would the rings be found, but on the remains of the roof??? Nobody would sweep them up and put them in the trash during all that elapsed time. Too bad that you didn't "pocket" at least one of those "holy" relics. Thanks for your post. Very interesting stuff.

Hi Chad,
Our business IS old business so feel free to comment on anything you want. Welcome to the forum.
Thanks for the info on the water tanks. I always assumed the single remaining tank was the one that the Sgts tossed grenades from but I was not sure. This remaining tank is the most eastern one which was used to hold fresh water. The other taller tank, 275 ft to the west, held salt water and is no longer there. The area is now the site of the Filipino Heroes Memorial which was completed in 1992.
Having a look for those rings might be worth the bother but the vegetation is thick these days. Interesting pieces of history lying there. One of them would look good on okla's shelf. ;D
Do you have any photos from your trips in the 1980s you could post? It is nice to see what has changed.

Hey Fots....If I had one of those rings and it was an authenic 1942 Corregidor USMC hand grenade ring pin, I would wear it in my nose or at least my ear lobe. Now you talk about a relic worth having. Rates right there with the crockery shard from the Corregidor hospital mess hall.

Hello fots2 and okla, Yes, I have old photos from 1985-88. But as you would guess, they are not up to the digital quality I've seen you post here. Anyways, here are some from Water Tank Hill. I'm having trouble getting the size right...new forum and new computer! I keep seeing this "click to enlarge" prompt at the bottom. First, here's the "short" water tank we've already discussed- Attachments:

And here's the "tall" water tank. I guess it got bulldozed, then? P.S.-Couldn't help all the growth getting in the way of the tank photo. Pretty awful pic but if the tank is gone forever this might be worth something... Attachments:

I see from photos in these forums that the 92nd Garage area has been bulldozed also. Here's what it looked like in 1986. Attachments:

Near the end of North Shore Road, well east of North Point. I read that this side of the island has snakes now. Back in the 80s Bataan was full of them, but in my half-dozen trips to Corregidor I didn't see any. Attachments:
