Sure thing, Victor. If it would be raining in July, we won't have to suffer the heat. It's easy to hike up in cool weather. Welcome back, Fortune40.

Thanks Sherwino..Do you know of anyone who can tell me where to buy this book "Ghost of Bataan"by Abraham?..if this can be purchased only from the States..that's a problem..but i'm willing to pay if some kind Forumer can bought for me..The setting (i am only assuming) is just around our town of Mariveles..If the West Road will be completed or passable it would be much easier and the book may describe of many places within our reach.. July trek to the places of Battle of Points its a rain and mud season the kind that would stick to the shoes until you can't move your feet because its heavy..the clay soil as i know were already disturbed due to road construction and that would be real sticky if wetted by rain..i wish i would be around..

Abie's first book is long out of print, but occasonally used copies show up on Amazon.com. Just put it on your wish list and wait. It was going for $150, but recently I saw one for $35. A couple of years ago his second book was available on his website, but I don't know if the site is still up now that he is gone.

It's a long hike to the point or to Quinawan bay. One can rent a Banca from Bagac for the day for 1,200 pesos. It takes 1 hour to get there. If one leaves early, you can get there by 6-7 am and spend the day scrounging. The Banca seats 6. That is 200 pesos each if anyone is interested.

The " Battle of the Points " is very interesting , and I appreciate all of the great photos. I visited Bataan last April , but only saw Morong , and Bagac. Since then I've discovered this site , and I'm anxious to see a lot more . Planning a return trip in April or May.
I'd like to see Quinauan Point/Bay. I plan to go alone . It would be a thrill for me to overnight here . I've never spent the night in a small barangay/ Village. I plan to just show up , and maybe search out the barangay captain for advice about staying the night . Don't want to cause a commotion with the people.
I want to enjoy some fresh grilled seafood , knock back a few beers with the locals , ask a lot of questions , and hang out on the point at night, under a full moon , and think of all the history that happened there.
I'm thinking Supercat ferry from Mall of Asia to Orion - jeepney to Bagac - banca to Quinauan Bay. I rate my Tagalog at about 25% now. Hopefully , I'll be halfway fluent by the time I vacation there.
Anyone see a problem with this scenario ? Any advice is appreciated. Thanx in advance.

Hello flystar Yes I see a big problem with your scenario!!!!!!! I have been living in Olongapo for a long time and I am a frequent visitor to Bataan and the points and I know a little about the area. As far as I know the ferry to Orion didn’t operate for some time now; it never became a successful business. Your option is to use the Genesis and or the Bataan Transit busses to Mariveles from Manila, get off at the Pilar-Bagac highway and the Bataan Expressway intersection and take a bus or jeepney to Bagac. You could also take the frequent Victory Liner busses to Olongapo and get off at Layac (site of the memorial to the -First Line of Defense-) and switch busses to Genesis or Bataan Transit to Mariveles. Here is a map to help “The Roads to Bataan”.

May I point out that buying books written by x-pow's can be expensive at Amazon. Please use Abebooks.com. They are not a book seller but merely a website that thousands of booksellers around the world use to sell their books. Incredibly even Salvation Army stores will list books. Type in title, author or other parameters and the site will list every book that is for sale from cheapest to most expensive and will also give you the condition of the book. Of the 100+ books I purchased prior to moving to Bataan, I purchased through Abebooks at a substantial savings over Amazon, some times 90%.
I will be taking my borrowed metal detector to Angaloma Bay the first week of March. I've been invited by the family who owns the south half of the Bay. It is one cove south of Quinawan. I plan doing extensive detecting and hope to find some artifacts.

Happy Liberation day to our town Mariveles it was always celebrated every last week of February even it does not coincide to the true date to be sure it will fall on weekend thereafter. It was after the elements of US Army's 38th Division liberated the town in 1945...There was nothing standing left in the town including the old folk's house of my wife...except the ruins of the old Quarantine Station.
I made a quick look at the Abebooks.com i got a quick reply that there were 4 books available in the US at 4 separate bookstore the average price range is $201-250 plus $28 shipping in good and first printing batch with the author's original signature...i'm still interested but don't know much to use the card or plastic money...i also want to order books or CD about Corregidor just the same i'm ignorant in this kind of transaction...pardon on this.
Thanks for the info Bob i hope you will be lucky to find those artifacts this is the kind of things i would like to do also if my VL will pushed thru this second week of April 2013...
